With an MSRP of $399.95, the Garrett ACE 400 is a step up from the ACE 250. You should be able to find it for under $350. It’s lightweight coming in under 3 pounds. It might not seem like a big deal, but the lighter weight makes a big difference when you’re out all day detecting. The 400 is strongest for coin and jewelry detection, as well as dry beach or fresh water hunting. The Double-D search coil gives you good depth and excellent coverage. It’s got eight sensitivity and depth adjustments and the coin depth indicator will let you know just how deep the target is.
Setting up the ACE 400 is pretty simple. As in the 350, there are five search modes including zero-disc, coins, relics, jewelry and custom. The zero-disc is set to discover all metals, with no discrimination. The custom mode allows the operator to make his own adjustments and the detector will hold them. The 400 uses 4 AA batteries and they are provided.
